SHIELDS, George Howell, lawyer; born Bardstown, Ky., June 19, 1842; son of George W. and Martha A. (Howell) Shields;lived in Missouri since 1844; educated in private schools, Hannibal, Mo., and then in Westminster College, Fulton, Mo.(which afterward conferred degree of LL.D., 1892); graduated from Louisville Law School, LL.
